Satsawat Natakarnkitkul
Data & AI Leader for ASEAN Implementation & strategy
I build, and I make the case for the build. Sixteen years across banking, telecom, energy, and government in Southeast Asia — designing the architecture and doing the delivery, then sitting with executives on the strategy and the investment behind it.
That combination wasn't accidental. I started in consulting, moved in-house to do the engineering, founded an analytics business unit, built and led data science teams, and took a management degree along the way. The strategy is worthless if nobody can build it. The build is worthless if nobody will fund it.
What I do
I lead data and AI across ASEAN — taking organisations through the transition from AI pilots to systems that actually run in production. That means two different kinds of work in the same week.
The hands-on half: designing the architecture, building the pipelines, reviewing the models, and dealing with the data quality problems that decide whether any of it works. Sixteen years of that across banking, telecom, retail, energy, and government — building teams, platforms, and models rather than advising on them from outside.
The executive half: AI strategy, business cases, build-versus-buy, and what an investment is actually expected to return. That side started at Accenture and IBM before I moved in-house, and it's where a management degree turned out to matter more than another framework. I've built three-year AI strategies, founded an analytics business unit, and driven $15M+ in ARR and over $30M in realized AI value — profit and cost savings — rather than just advising on someone else's numbers.
I write here about the same territory: architecture patterns that survive contact with production, strategy frameworks that hold up in a budget conversation, and the specific reasons enterprise AI projects stall.
Everything on this site is written in a personal capacity and reflects my own views, not those of my employer or any client.
Books
Two books, both published in 2026 — details and buy links here.
- Why Your AI Agent Will Fail — And What the 11% Who Ship to Production Do Differently. On why most enterprise agent projects never leave pilot, and what the ones that ship do differently.
- REPLACED — Why I Built the AI That's Restructuring Your Career and How to Stay Ahead of It. Written for mid-career professionals watching AI absorb the work they built a reputation on.
Speaking
I speak at government, education and industry events across Thailand and the wider region, in English or Thai. Topics I'm currently booked for:
- Why most enterprise AI agents never reach production
The decisions — not the technology — that separate pilots from production. Based on the book and on deployments across the region.
- Agentic AI for government, deployed responsibly
Secure, in-policy adoption of AI agents in the public sector: governance, guardrails, and what compliance actually requires.
- AI sovereignty and the infrastructure decisions behind it
Data, digital and operational sovereignty — and why the foundation you build now determines what AI can do for citizens later.
- Making the business case for AI
ROI that survives a budget review: what generates measurable value, what is theatre, and how to tell the two apart before you fund them.
